‘uname’ command to know all about your linux Machine

To know about your Linux Machine ,you can use ‘ uname ‘ command.

print the kernel name in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-s ‘ or  ‘–kernel-name ‘ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -s
Linux
[root@localhost ~]#

print the network node hostname in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-n ‘ or  ‘—nodename  ‘ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -n
localhost.localdomain
[root@localhost ~]#

To print the kernel release in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-r ‘ or  ‘–kernel-release ‘ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -r
3.10.0-327.13.1.el7.x86_64
[root@localhost ~]#

To print the kernel version in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-v’ or  ‘–kernel-version ‘ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -v
#1 SMP Thu Mar 31 16:04:38 UTC 2016
[root@localhost ~]# 

To print the machine hardware name in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-m’ or  ‘–machine ‘ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -m
x86_64
[root@localhost ~]#

To print the processor type in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-p’ or  ‘–processor ‘ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -p
x86_64
[root@localhost ~]#

To  print the hardware platform in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-i’ or  ‘–hardware-platform’ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -i
x86_64
[root@localhost ~]#

 To print the operating system in Linux Machine, you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-o’ or  ‘–operating-system’ option.

[root@localhost ~]# uname -o
GNU/Linux
[root@localhost ~]#

If you want to print all information about your Linux Machine , you can use ‘ uname ‘ command with ‘-a’ or  ‘–all ‘ option. This command print all information on basis of above mentioned order.

  

[root@localhost ~]# uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 3.10.0-327.13.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Mar 31 16:04:38 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[root@localhost ~]#
